Like traditional oils, water-mixable oil paintings cannot be reactivated with water when dry. When you paint with the oil colors, add a small amount of linseed to each color.

Straight water will often create a duller color and stickier paint that doesn't brush easily or work well when other oils are added. Small amounts of traditional oil color can be added to these new paints without effecting the color or consistency. Traditional oil paints and mediums can be added to the new oils in small amounts of up to 30% and will still retain water mix-ability.

I have tried walnut oil and have been happy with the results. Water-soluble oils can be used on the same supports: stretched canvas or linen, hardboard, wood, etc.
